Ben Lloyd

Ben Lloyd studied Marine Affairs at the University of Rhode Island from 1994-1998 with a focus on aquaculture. Before graduating, he got his start on the water by volunteering at Moonstone Oysters. He was hooked, and was hired on by Moonstone owner Bob Rheault in 1997. In 1998 Ben moved to the Boston area and took a job with a prominent seafood wholesaler to learn the business, with an eye to returning to the shellfish world soon.

In 2001 Ben founded Pangea Shellfish Company in Boston, which he still runs today. He always had a love for being on the water and shellfish farming, so in 2010 he bought a small oyster farm in Duxbury, Massachusetts, which now runs as Standish Shore Oysters.

Ben lives in Duxbury with his wife Victoria, three kids and two St. Bernards. He enjoys gardening after the commute home from Boston each day, as well as spending time on the water with his family in Duxbury and playing in New Hampshire with the kids and dogs.
