Matt Griffin
Rhode Island Representative
Matt Griffin grew up exploring the Chesapeake Bay and landed in Rhode Island to study marine biology. He holds B.S. and M.Sc. degrees in Marine Biology and Environmental Science, both from the University of Rhode Island. Matt is owner of Saltbox Sea Farm LLC, comprised of two Rhode Island-based oyster farms producing “Rough Water Oysters” and “Portsmouth Salts.” He also provides environmental consulting services in habitat restoration and fisheries science.
Matt has been involved in the Rhode Island shellfish scene since 2004. He formerly worked with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and Roger Williams University. Matt views shellfish farming as a great combination of working with your hands and mind while giving back to the ecosystem and local community.
