Connecticut Board Member
I am a lifelong resident of Connecticut and spent the better part of my youth fishing in Western Long Island Sound. My dad was a biology teacher and gave me my earliest taste of the marine environment. My parents were avid botanists and mycologists. I graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a business degree and spent the first 15 years of my professional life on Wall Street. At one of the firms I worked for I did analysis on several aquaculture investments, due to my interest in fishing and fisheries. I eventually took a job at one of them (Aquafuture). Working at Aquafuture (now Australis) helped me establish the four rules of aquaculture and set me on a path to find a way to actually make an aquaculture venture commercially successful. Through sheer chance, I ended up meeting Jim Markow in the spring of 1999 and started CT Cultured Oysters shortly thereafter. I live in Pawcatuck, Conn., with my wife Jill, daughter Sydney and son Asher.
